"TO REACH OUT TO THE COMMUNITY IN LOVE AND FELLOWSHIP;

TO LISTEN TO THE NEEDS AND TO SERVE GOD THROUGH THE COMMUNITY"

BARTOW CHURCH SERVICE CENTER

A church and community supported center for the most vulnerable of our community to come and be served. Their services include serving many bag lunches. Our support is to donate food and other needs as well as some hands-on volunteer help.

    BARTOW WOMEN'S CARE CENTER

A church and community supported center for women and their children who need a safe place to make a new start. Our support is to donate items of need and to occasionally have special projects with them.

STARFISH MINISTRIES

Our Starfish Ministries started several years ago when we became aware that we have many "needs" for help. This made deciding which "needs" to support quite a challenge. We are aware that we may have a passion for some "needs" and not others. The Starfish Ministries are a variety of ministries that are presented to the congregation for their support. People support the ministries for which they have passion. Some of these ministries are: Our Missionaries - Monte & April Baker and Daniel & Mary McCain; UMCOR Disaster Relief; Society of St. Andrew; Native American Ministries; East Angola Covenant; Polk County Social Services; Angel Tree; kidsPACK; Polk Senior Orphans; East Angola / Florida Covenant; Haiti Covenant; Cuba Partnership; Polk Healthy Families; Homeless Students in Polk County and others.

WAHNETA MISSION

There will be ongoing "gatherings" throughout the year.

OTHER GATHERINGS

Throughout the year this congregation "gathers" items to support ongoing outreach ministries. Some of these have been: items for graduation bags for the homeless graduates in Polk County, and pull-top canned food for the homeless through Tri-County Human Services. We are always ready to try to meet the needs of the vulnerable in Polk County.

kidsPACK

kidsPACK program is a weekly delivery program that provides a backpack full of necessary food to needy children in the community each Friday. The food that is provided can be prepared by the child with no adult assistance. The food they receive is sufficient to cover meals for the weekend when disadvantaged children do not receive meal assistance from their schools.

PUMPKIN PATCH

Asbury's annual Pumpkin Patch brings families back year after year to share in the fun of selecting pumpkins and taking pictures. Besides being a fundraiser for church missions, the Pumpkin Patch offers story time for pre-school children and serves as an outreach to our community.

FLORIDA UNITED METHODIST CHILDREN'S HOME

The Florida United Methodist Children's Home is in Enterprise, Florida, and is wholly supported by the United Methodist Churches in Florida. We collect a quarterly offering for the children and donate special needs.
